[Asia] Hong Kong remains fourth most expensive place in Asia to employ expats

This week ECA International published its latest annual MyExpatriate Market Pay survey and the results revealed that Hong Kong remained the fourth most expensive place in Asia to employ an expat last year. On average a mid-level foreign employee costs a company US$284,466 (HK$2.2 million) per year. 

Figures reportedly showed that the average cost for a company employing a mid-level expatriate worker in Hong Kong was US$284,466, including an average cash salary of US$88,126. The average package in 2018 - when Hong Kong also ranked fourth most expensive - cost companies US$276,417 per person, with an average cash salary of US$86,984. More than 280 companies in 160 countries took part in the new survey, Yahoo News has further details of its findings.
