08 JUL 2020

A business support and investment proposal for the government, intended to support the hospitality industry through the COVID-19 crisis, has been co-signed by around 120 leading hospitality voices. The pandemic has had a profound impact on the entire sector prompting a broad range of leaders to unite behind the proposal.

Trade body UKHospitality predicts that sales within the hospitality sector will fall by 56 per cent year-on-year; translating to a revenue loss of about £73.4bn. UKHospitality further claimed that around 50 per cent of the UK’s hospitality businesses do not believe they will break-even before the end of 2021. imbibe details the three criteria the proposal contains and reports comments from the trade body’s chief executive.
