[UK] Kennedys raise staff salaries despite COVID-19

27 AUG 2020

International law firm Kennedys has announced that it intends to proceed with salary increases for all staff from November, despite the general trend for cutbacks in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously Kennedys had put a pause on salary reviews for fee earners and business services staff due for this year but on August 25 it said would continue with increases following strong financial results.

Despite actions taken by many other top-50 firms during the coronavirus crisis, since lockdown began in March Kennedys has not reduced staff hours, announced redundancies or put workers on the government’s furlough scheme. The firm’s senior partner Nick Thomas reportedly stressed that Kennedys was not immune to the challenges of the pandemic but said that the strength of the business was allowing it to proceed with ‘cautious optimism’. The Law Society Gazette reports his comments and further commitments the firm has made to its staff.
