[UK] Protesting workers at Sheffield Papa John’s win lockdown pay dispute

12 AUG 2020

Workers and ex-workers at a Papa John’s branch in Sheffield were paid in full on July 31 for outstanding wages owed. The payout followed a demonstration outside Papa John’s on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield the previous weekend. At the protest, demonstrators demanded wages owed to them from work carried out for a previous franchise owner.

Protesting workers reportedly said they were owed these wages for work completed before the franchise was transferred from the previous owner - Tofur Ali - in June. Some of the workers said their wages for this period totalled less than the legal minimum wage. The Star reports on the demonstration and its positive outcome.
