[UK] Workers resent colleagues continuing to work from home

5 AUG 2020

HR experts reveal that employees who have fought to continue attending their workplace through the COVID-19 pandemic are resentful of colleagues who continue to work from home. And those aggrieved workers are being offered pay increases and other perks to keep them happy. The experts report a suspicion that colleagues at home are having a ‘lovely time’, from staff remaining on the frontlines.

Some of those workers resent the cost in time and money of commuting and the sense of staff being all in it together has reportedly declined. Social distancing and shielding rules and childcare concerns have led to widely different experiences of working through the pandemic for those physically at work and those who work remotely. Now some disgruntled workers have started grievance procedures against their employers. Mail Online explores the issue.
