HR Technology Challenge: Finding the Right Balance

A White Paper from NuView Systems Inc.
There are only a few ideas or concepts that have universally been associated with winning strategies, good judgment, intelligent choices -- and positive outcomes -- for literally thousands of years.
One of these ideas is the notion of “finding the right balance.
We are quite used to this concept in discussions about proper nutrition, sound investment portfolios, a sports team’s offensive prowess, calibrating risk and reward, and even the presentation of the evening news. Perhaps the time has come to bring the idea of “the right balance” to the forefront when discussing or considering the best approach to deploying HCM / HRMS /HRIS solutions.
Many of us are aware of industry survey results published over the last 10 years which highlighted lower-than-expected satisfaction and success rates associated with large-scale (typically “Tier 1”) HR / ERP implementations.
Some of the same findings and themes have now seemingly started to “spill over”into the Talent Management Suite arena, as aptly stated by HCM Systems consultancy HRchitect in their report “The Suite Life of Integrated Talent Management” (May 2008):
“Organizations face a bewildering array of technology solution providers who claim to deliver comprehensive "Integrated Talent Management" suites, and it is often difficult to separate vendor hype from the realities that customers experience as they try to implement these systems.”
