Intelligo’s Megapay Payroll Solution is Fully Enabled for The Local Property Tax

Intelligo, one of the leading providers of Human Resource and Payroll Software and Outsourcing Services in Ireland today announced that Megapay, its leading corporate payroll software is fully enabled for the Local Property Tax deductions and the update will be rolled out to all clients next month.
An annual self-assessed Local Property Tax (LPT) charged on the market value of all residential properties in the State will come into effect from 1 July 2013. It is being administered by Revenue and a half-year charge will apply in 2013.
According to the Revenue Commissioners, residential property owners can opt to pay their LPT for 2013 in one single payment or to phase their payments over the period July to December 2013. Where this payment option is chosen by a property owner, Revenue will notify the employer to deduct property tax from the owner’s net salary and employers will be required to make this facility available to their employees/pensioners from July 2013 onwards.
Commenting on the tax, Director of Intelligo Padraig Gill said, “It is clear many employers are unaware of their legal obligations with regard to the introduction of the Local Property Tax. Megapay, our corporate payroll software is currently used to pay over 20% of the working population in Ireland, therefore it is extremely important that Megapay has been updated to enable payroll administrators to automatically deduct the necessary payment with ease and at the touch of a button.”
“We will be releasing an upgrade to Megapay in June to handle the LPT tax”, Padraig added. “Our aim is to help our clients deal with the increased duties that have been placed on employers this year. Our help desk will be open Monday to Friday from 9.00am until 5.30pm, should any of our customers need any help or support in relation to the tax.”
